Digium’s PBX Appliance Now Has General Availability
I had the opportunity to chat with Digium Channel Manager Chris Langford for a quick moment tonight and he let me know that the highly anticipated, oft mentioned Asterisk appliance is now generally available through Digium’s distribution channel.
According to what I am told, these first units will be VoIP only (meaning you will need to use an analog gateway to interface with the PSTN) and will ship with a one year support contract (a great move I think). The appliance, which was announced as a developer’s kit in January, is expected to be the company’s focus going forward as they square off against phone system vendors like Fonality and SwitchVox.
